3rd Floor - Attic

Today, the attic is used mainly for administration. But there are a few rooms that have been left original.

Office space in the attic.

Serving Room

One of the attic rooms that is original is the Serving Room. I have no idea how it got it's name.

It is known that the Seiberling grandchildren used this room. It acted as a nursery.

It one time, it was used for storage.

Baby beds.

There's a telephone in this room.

The wallpaper has a kid's design.

The Nursery was used for the multiple grandchildren when they came to stay.

Earlier, this was where the performers who came to Stan Hywet would stay while putting on shows in the music room.

This is inside the ceiling over the great hall.

Basement

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is located directly under the game room and Frank's office.

The pool as it appeared when the Seiberlings moved in, 1916.

Laundry Room

The laundry room would have rivaled any commercial laundry of the period.

The dryer.

Spa - Sauna

If you needed to sweat it out, this was the perfect place to be.

The wine Cellar is under the tower. This is one of two rooms in the house thatis not heated. It stays an average 55 to 65 degrees all year long.

Staff Hallways

There was plenty of staff hallways in the house so the staff could move about and not be seen.

Staff's Rooms

The staff at Stan Hywet lived better than in most homes. They had large, clean and comfortable rooms.

The staff's rooms were divided with some living on the second floor and others on the third floor. Still others lived in other buildings on the estate.
